We decided to brainstorm, as a group, different ideas about songs we could use for our music video. First of all, we listed different genres (for example rock, hip hop, pop) and from then picked the type of music that we thought would be most enjoyable to create a music video for. We chose pop music and then brainstormed different pop artists and groups, which after watching original videos on Youtube, we decided to pick a female solo artist. From the videos we watched, we all thought that Katy Perry was the artist that stood out the most, and chose her song "Hot n Cold".
When we looked at her video, we found that she used narrative and performance combined pretty much all the way through the video, so we compared it to other similar artists to see how they used narrative and performance throughout their videos.
